Alright, I'll get to the damned point. "The Day That Never Comes" is a good song. It grows on you. It feels like two songs that were stitched together, one from '90s Metallica and one from '80s Metallica. How this reflects on the complete album is hard to say. But it's a good ride, and once I can be able to hear a decent version, one that won't sound like it came from a broken transistor radio, I may just like it some more.
It makes me wish I had Ride the Lightning and Load/Reload on vinyl, if that means anything.
