Death Magnetic is a triumph of survival, the tale of the wounded addict or victim who triumphs. The endless rock 'n roll deaths, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Kobain, Layne Stayley, are referenced here. But it's also true for anyone who overcame their deadly addictions. I also think it's a weary and defiant triumphant yell for all of us who struggle to remain free. Hope you're enjoying this album, 'cause I'm loving it. I get to be 19 again! So does Metallica.
