Pink Floyd's Richard Wright Has Died

Sad news today of the passing of Pink Floyd's keyboardist and singer. I'll be spinning my Floyd records all night tonight. Obscured by Clouds and Meddle are highly recommended.

Just finished listening to DSOTM, on which Wright wrote the music for "Us & Them" and "The Great Gig in the Sky". Fantastic stuff. The theme of death that runs throughout the record was especially pronounced. God Speed.

Very true. Dark Side of the Moon was clearly meant to be more serious art than typical rock 'n roll. It's very complex, not only in the musical arrangements, but the lyrical themes of life and death. And it does so without appearing simple or morbid, more like poetry, or like opera.

The 30th Anniversary Dark Side vinyl reissue is truly a treasure. The music sounds fantastic, and the album includes a couple new posters and some stickers. It's definitely one of the better lp reissues available, so if you have a turntable, by all means, pick up a copy.

And if you don't have a good turntable....well....
