Stubborn as a Mule

Aha.  Just as I was guessing, John McCain will be sticking to his VP candidate come hell or high water.  He may just wind up with both.  This means, of course, that the increasing questions, issues, scandals, proto-scandals, and supermarket tabloid gossip will surround Sarah Palin.  And this will continue to drain air out of the Republicans' campaign.

If you watched last night's RNC coverage, you'd notice the glaring lack of any real-life issues discussed.  The entire show will revolve around personality, not policy.  Which makes sense, considering the colossal clusterfuck of a mess the Republicans have stuck us with.  No wonder Bush had to be snuck in under the radar and away from the stage.

Which brings us back to Palin.  The party brand is so completely destroyed in this country with nearly every demographic group, there's really nothing left but to stick together and whine, whine, whine.  The GOP has been reduced to the Party of Falwell - a Congress of Leper Messiahs.  It's like a vampire party that has run out of victims.

What else can McCain at this point do?  He preened himself for a lifetime to earn his chance to become the big chief.  Now that it's his turn, the whole damned enterprise has melted down.  He can't ever dump Sarah Palin, for fear of pissing away the only diehard suckers still willing to show up and play for the team.  Of course Palin is a bust, a failure, a grand cosmic joke, and proof that God Almighty isn't finished with us just yet.  They're Republicans.  They're all losers, and they better get used to being losers, because they're going to stay there for a very, very long time.
